Acadeum | Course Share

Burman University is a member of the Consortium of Adventist Higher Education Online (CAREOnline) that facilitates enrolment in online classes between North American Seventh-day Adventist institutions.  This system operates through a platform known as Acadeum. Through this system, students have the opportunity to take courses that may meet their needs. The various academic units at Burman have evaluated the courses offered through Acadeum.

When browsing through the offerings (Course Share Portal), a student will be able to see how a course will transfer to Burman.

Please search "Acadeum" in the Academic Calendar for details.

The Acadeum Course Experience

Before:

  1. Communicate with your academic advisor to determine what course you need. It is recommended to take available courses in-person at Burman
    where possible.
  2. Make your request known to the Registrar (djeffrey@burmanu.ca). The Registrar will confirm that the course you need is available and transferrable
and will send you a registration recommendation.
  3. Accept the registration recommendation and ensure your course is approved with Student Financial Services (angeladeibert@burmanu.ca). Courses taken by Acadeum cost the same as courses taken on campus and require payment in full prior to registration. Registration requests are submitted once Student Finance gives approval to Registrar Services.

During:

  1. Watch for an enrolment email for your course. If you need any accommodation, communicate with the teaching institution early, with evidence.
  2. Be involved in the class immediately upon its beginning. Complete any introductory assignments. The teaching institution may drop you for non-
participation if you do not submit initial assignments.
  3. Keep up to date with your assignments. Be aware of drop dates, which will differ from the Burman University drop dates. If you need to drop a class,
    contact the Registrar.

After:

  1. Once the course is complete, take a screenshot of your grade, and submit it to the Registrar as an unofficial record of your grade.
  2. Request an official transcript of your grade to be sent to registrar@burmanu.ca
  3. Confirm on your transcript in your student portal that the grade has been transferred.
