Herr Lectures - Shabana Rasouly & Dr. Glen Graham

A conversation between Shabana Rasouly, Burman University student, and Dr. Glen Graham, Director of the Centre for Peace and Justice and Associate Professor of Humanities at Burman University.

Shabana Rasouly was born and raised in Afghanistan. After the Taliban took over the country in 2021, Shabana was regularly threatened for advocating on behalf of women's rights. She escaped to Pakistan in 2023 and made her way to Canada, where she is currently studying at Burman University.

In her discussion with Dr. Graham, Ms. Rasouly will tell her story and address the role of women in Islam. Do extremist groups like the Taliban distort the true teachings of Islam? Shabana and Glen will discuss this and other questions followed by a Q and A period with the audience
