The 4th Annual Burman University Undergraduate-Faculty Research Conference once again showcased the collaboration between students and faculty. This year’s event, The Quest for a Just World: Diverse Perspectives, organized by Dr. Marc Froese and Dr. Glen Graham, featured outstanding research presented through oral and poster sessions.

Held in the Administration Building Chapel, the oral presentations engaged audiences with topics such as Microbial Diversity in Haskap Juices by Francesca Etinoff, fourth-year Biology major, and Dr. Pekka Määttänen, chair of the Biology department, which earned first place. Everyday Justice by Mellisa Whingwiri, a First-year Secondary Education major, and Dr. Chloe Weir, Chair of the School of Education, secured second place. At the same time, The Impact of a Word by Timi Olatunde, Open Studies, and Dr. Daniel Saugh, Assistant Professor of Psychology, took third.

The library became a discussion hub as students and faculty presented their research posters. First place, went to The Influence of Decreased Mental Health on Injury by Teresa Bruce, a third-year biology major; Briana Perrone, a third-year wellness major; and Dr. Klaus Irrgang, Associate Professor of Wellness. Second place went to Haskap and Flax-seed by Xi Ying Zhou, a fourth-year Biology major, and Dr. Määttänen. Third place went to Heat and Heated Authoritarianism by Elijah O’Sullivan Amaya, a third-year International Studies major,  and Dr. Marc Froese, Chair of the International Studies department.
