Burman University Orchestral Scholarship

The Burman University Orchestral Scholarship is designed to help students wanting to study music while specializing in an orchestral instrument. This scholarship is funded by donations.
How to apply:
- Submit a video recording of yourself playing one of the approved pieces using an orchestral instrument. Your submission will be adjudicated by the professors of the Burman University Music Department who will then select the winner of the scholarship.

- Your chosen instrument must be one of the following:
- Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello, or Double Bass.
- Woodwinds: Flute, Oboe (or English Horn), Clarinet, or Bassoon.
- Brass: French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, or tuba.
- Percussion: Marimba or Timpani.
Criteria:
- Applicants must attend Burman University in the Fall and Winter semesters immediately following your scholarship submission.
- Applicants must audition for and register in each fall and winter term, for either credit or audit, in the Music Department's Orchestra, Camerata Ensemble, or other approved group.
- Applicants must register for 12 credits each term.
- Applicants must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person.
- If no satisfactory submission is made the scholarship may not be awarded.
Preference will be given to a student entering a music program, but any student who meets the criteria is eligible.
Other information:
- This award is open to new learners and transfer students.
- This is a non-renewable entrance award.
- Students receiving a second degree discount are not eligible for this award.
- Scholarships are awarded 50% each term. So an $8,000 scholarship would be awarded with $4,000 in the Fall, and $4,000 in the Winter semester.
