The Burman University Music Bursary was created by Cheryl Cooney and Dick Huddleston, longtime friends of the Community Foundation, who were inspired by both the skills of the students at Burman University and the quality of the Burman University Music Program.
This bursary will provide two entrance scholarships to the Burman University Music Program each year.
Criteria and information:
- Winners are selected based on an anonymous written application.
- Must be in a music related program. Preference will be given to music majors. Secondary Education majors specializing in music will also be given consideration.
- Must have initial admission into Burman University as a first-year first-time student.
- Must live within 100 kilometers of the campus or in the cities along the QE2 corridor between and including Edmonton and Calgary.
- Must complete the application before the deadline.
- Must register for and successfully complete a minimum 80% course load per semester (12 credits excluding PLAR and Audit Credit) during the school year.
- Students are not eligible for this award if they are already receiving a Second-Degree Discount or a full-tuition scholarship.
- Awards will be split 50/50 between the fall and winter semesters.
