Casey's Cabin

Casey's Cabin is a facility on the campus of Burman University and is located in a beautiful setting next to Lake Barnett. It is ideal for small gatherings such as birthday parties, family reunions, meetings and social events. And it can accommodate up to approximately 60-70 people.

Claude Casey was an alumnus of Canadian Junior College, graduating in 1919 and 1921. He joined the CJC staff in 1931 and distinguished himself as a history teacher, librarian, and dean of men for the next 16 years. He was the founding president of the CJC/CUC Alumni Association in 1945 and therefore this alumni facility is named in his honour. He also served as a member of the CUC Board of Trustees. His wife, Eva White, graduated from CJC the same years as he did and together they devoted a combined total of 100 years to Christian education. They had one son, Stanford.

 

Casey's Cabin Contains:Thank you for adhering to the following requests as you enjoy the  use of the cabin:

  • Don’t throw water on the fire, if you are using the fireplace. Just push the coals together to the back of the fireplace and let them burn out.
  • Do not throw fireplace ashes outside.
  • The lawn chairs can be used indoors or out. The grey chairs are only for indoors. The lawn chairs are stored in the shed to the east. Cabin keys open the shed.
  • Do not split wood or hit anything on the black slate on the fireplace or the floor. A splitting block is in the box.
  • Please consume no alcohol anywhere on the property – indoors or out.
  • If you have smokers in your group – please allow no smoking in the Cabin and please no cigarette butts discarded on the ground.
