Cafeteria Changes
Once again, I have some news I wish I didn’t have to share. We have someone leaving our campus, and we wish it wasn't so. Mr. Pankaj Singh, Director of Food Services, under the Aramark contract, will be transitioning to Red Deer Polytechnic in a similar position. Pankaj has served our campus well, and while we wish he were not leaving, we also want him the best in his new role. I would also like to thank him for his excellent service on our campus during his tenure here. He will be with us until the end of the month, so if you can thank him for his services to Burman and our campus family, please do so. I know he would appreciate it.
Aramark has announced that the new Director of Food Services will be Mr. Marello Marano. He is an experienced chef with several awards for his culinary skills. We look forward to welcoming him to campus and working with him. He will be joining the cafeteria staff in February.
Retirement
Other announcements that I never like to make deal with retirement. Larry Murrin has decided that retirement is a good option for him. Larry has been at Burman for 22 years, with the majority of those serving as Registrar. That amount of time is usually counted as over ½ of a career, and we thank him for his dedicated service to students and others during his time on campus. He has agreed to continue to help out with teaching some classes as well as working with the A/V needs on campus, so we will continue to benefit from his expertise in these areas. We wish Larry the very best in his retirement and know that with all the extra time he will have on his hands, he will get even better at golf than he already is.
New Faculty
Dr. Oktavian Mantiri and his wife, Jeanette have arrived on our campus today. They are coming most recently from Indonesia and Oktavian will be continuing to serve in the School of Education as an Associate Professor, which he has been doing online until they could arrive. Even though the weather is not all that nice at this time of the year here in Alberta, please give them a warm Burman welcome.
